So, $45 later...

Okay...so I took a trip to Michael's this afternoon to get stuff to make our monkey into the Monkbot.

It was a little more costly that I thought it would be ($45...the monkey only cost me $30...yikes)...but I think it's gonna be worth it.

I decided that I wouldn't be able to get all the materials and monkey to Ben and have him make everything and return it to me in a timely manner...so...it's up to yours truly to create the Monkbot.

Cross all fingers...and toes.

Ben talked me into using clay to make the visor. I've never worked with Polymer clay...I'm not sure how it will go. Also, I hope the glue I bought will keep it affixed to the monkbot...or else...hmmmm...I don't know.

Wish me luck.

Y'all don't look for many posts this week. This project is going to fill my evenings...I'm sure.

I'll try to keep you posted on the progress with photos as I go along.

is a little nervous...but excited

P.S. After Febreezing the heck out of the Monkbot...the cigarette smell has substantially decreased. Just FYI.

Awwwww.....poor Sadie! My dog will probably try to eat poor monkbot when it's my turn. Mayo found my feather duster thingy that my daughter had been using (yes I employ child labor). I guess he thought it was a bird or something because he started barking at it and dancing around like he was trying to catch it. I think part of the travelling moonkbot should be our pets' reactions to it!

How freaking exciting!!!!! HE WORKS! Squee I am down with the pet thing...because...I may have one by the time I get MonkBot! My neighbor has two dogs, one she obviously favors over the other one. Well...the one she loves, to me is nothing special, a big goon who is frantic and jumpy and barky; but the other little guy (his name is Lou) is a dreamboat. Well, poor little Lou gets blamed for everything that the other "loved" dog does. She even told me Lou doesn't eat (I think it is because the other dog eats all his food). Well, Saturday morning I asked her where she got dreamboat Lou and she told me I could have Lou himself. My parents were on their way in so we couldn't talk in-depth, but tonight we are...I still need to set a few things in motion (dog walkers...figure out what I need and puppie proof the house)

BUT this time in two weeks...I could be the proud owner of Lou, Lou-beoski, Qua-Lou'd (all my names for him) the little beagle.

Fingers crossed it works out.

That was hilarious. Me? If I woke up to that banging on my nightstand, I'd be back under the covers so quick and all you would see is a slithering lump of down slowly easing its way out of the bedroom.

Shelley, I just got back from a trip to Southeast Asia, followed by a Caribbean cruise. Monkbot would've had lots of fun, and maybe even some tv exposure (I gots ku-neck-shuns). I could even have given him (her?) a few tips on how to install a toilet for you! (Squeebee's child labor practice just gave me a whole lot of expansion ideas.)

Then again ... the Philippines is home to the monkey-eating eagle, so you may have to pack Monkbot a few pairs of Depends just in case.

Good golly, Ivoryhut -- how big is the eagle?
(I do like the image of you slithering, Horta-like out of your bedroom, leaving the steaming message "No kill I".)

Mind Doc, the eagle is about 3 to 4 feet tall, with a wingspan of about 6 feet or more. Them big dudes. But vewwy pretty. The baby eagles have gray eyes that slowly turn blue as they get older.

They also eat the flying lemurs in the forests as they leap from tree to tree. Poor lemur. One minute you're airborne, marveling at your amazing flight skills, and then suddenly, everything's dark.

Monkbot definitely will need some Depends. Or carry Elmo around as a decoy.

Your link is killing me! LOL!

Ack! Okay, that was me above. I suddenly became Ivor, your friendly but slightly uncoordinated butler who is given to premature mouse-clicking, sometimes resulting in unintended truncation.

I love the name Lou for a dog, Shrew! My friend has a 7-month old beagle puppy who is a sweetheart. (and also hasn't been as stubborn as beagles are supposed to be) Keep us posted! I am a dog freak. :)

Shrew.....so excited about your doggie! Careful, though....beagles can be mischevious! My husband's cousin had one and they came home to him with his head stuck in a glass mayonnaise jar (I guess there was something edible in the bottom of it?). It took some doing to get him free!

Ivoryhut....that is one scary-ass sounding eagle! I am perplexed....why did I think lemurs were only found in Madagascar? Shows you what I know!

Sad news...the nut has decided to keep Lou...she even forgot she wanted to give the dog away on Saturday.

Ah well...not meant to be.

Personal not of victory, Lou wanted to go with me. Heh

Shrew, I am sorry about the dog and its nutty owner. Some wuppie is out there, awaiting you.

Hey Ivor -- ivo -- Iv ... got plenty of nothinnnn' and nothin's got plenty of meeee. Ahem. Sorry. *blushing* Glad you liked the link. And I did that at about six o'clock my time. Impressive, no? That is one of my favorite Star trek episodes.

Eagles that eat monkeys and lemurs and have cold, souless blue eyes ... shivers. Now, why did I want to go to the Philippines?

Thanks all...

Ah but it lit that fire under my big ol' butt! I must have a little furry one to love...and since Match.com has failed me...I am submitting an adoption form to Petfinders.com. Keep your fingers and paws crossed that some little one is waiting for me to take them home.

I am confident that there is a furry one for you.

Mind Doc, would it help if I mentioned that the Philippines also has one of the world's smallest monkeys? A cute little thing that just about fits in your palm, with big round eyes. Spielberg modeled E.T. after this little creature.

I also have tons of beach pictures that might help entice you.

Shrew, before you know it, Lou will be older and able to go places on his own, and I betcha he'll be popping in on you regularly.

A friend of ours just got a young Maltese, and after an afternoon of playing with the young pup, her not-too-keen-about-dogs mother-in-law commented, "She's so adorable, but she makes the weirdest sound! I've never heard a cat make that sound before."
