Squirrels Are Evil...But Todd Was Pretty Cute

Three repairs guys and one incredibly long week later...my Internet has finally been fixed.

I started noticing earlier this week that my Internet connection was slowing down each evening. Beginning at around 7 p.m., pages would really start to load slowly and, by 11 p.m., I couldn't load pages at all.

Needless to say...it's been a frustrating week for posting here and trying to play catch up at Gray's in the evening.

I called Comcast and they sent out a repair guy on Tuesday during the lunch hour. Nice guy...brought the speed up a little. But that evening, things were slow again. The guy had said that it might be slowing down because of the cold weather causing the lines to contract.

I tried to make things work, but by Friday I had really gotten frustrated. Paying nearly $50 a month for high-speed Internet doesn't do me a bit of good if I can only access during the hours I'm at the office.

So I called Comcast again on Friday...and this time they sent a guy out in the evening.

Another really nice guy...very helpful. He actually got to see how slowly the connection was running.

But he said one more visit would be necessary so that the outside connection could be checked.

So, today, Todd came.

I love Todd.

He's a brilliant, brilliant man...and I really liked seeing him hop the fence in the backyard, tote his ladder, and climb to fix the cable line...the whole time wearing a utility belt that mesmerized me with its various array of tools and cables.

He came back inside and went to the computer.

"How's it going?" I asked...trying to not look like a goober wearing a t-shirt that read "Shoot. Blow. Holster."...which was hard...because I am a goober...and was wearing a t-shirt that read "Shoot. Blow. Holster."

Todd clicked around on my little laptop a time or two then said, "I think you're ready."

"It's fixed?"

"Yes ma'am. You're running really well and you've got a really good connection."

"Why...thank you." I blushed and batted my eyes...and then realized he was talking about my Internet. "Um...what was wrong?"

"Squirrels had chewed through the line pretty good."

"And that would make the line more susceptible to the elements at night when the temperature dropped?" I said...wanting to impress Todd with the power of my deductive reasoning.

"Yep."

"Well...Todd...thank you for your help and for coming out on a Saturday."

"You're welcome and just call us if you have any more problems."

Briefly...the thought of sabotaging my own line went through my mind.

"Oh...I will, Todd...I will."

Glad everything is up and running for ya!

P.S.....what, no pictures????

I thought about it...but then realized that he would have probably thought I was a total weirdo.

I mean...the guy had seen all the stuff on my desktop...all current sites up (monkbot and gray's)...he probably already thought i was a loon.

Shelley, this is totally off subject, but i just read your "what i learned over my taylor vacation" and Q's "austin city skys the limit meets taylor". you guys had me laughing and tearing up. I had the same feeling when Taylor was 2 feet away from me. I didn't want to make a fool of myself. The lady next to me grabbed his hand and nearly pulled him off his feet. Q's quilts are beautiful. I hope she gets the quilt to him. I have a feeling he would appreciate it!

We've got some shrews here in Indy i could send you to chew thru the lines again. Sometimes i hate computers. our sound isn't working right now--i told my hubby and he just sighed and gave me the "not Taylor Hicks again" look.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

I have to vent for a second, and because I don't have any of your phone #'s I'm going to do it here. Someone on GC just posted a comment about Taylor not thanking the Soul Patrol in the comment section of his CD and she wrote "that hurts, Taylor". All i'm gonna say, get over it. Good lord what do some people want? A pound of flesh along w/his heart and soul?
Love to all my new monkbot sisters! Sorry for the bitching.

My tool-for-today story isn't nearly so... ah, exciting.

DH decided he needed his double-bit ax, and could I help him find it? Since all I was doing was listening to clips of Regina Spektor on iTunes, I didn't have a good excuse as to why I was too busy to help. It took me about 10 minutes of serious searching to find it. That was a few hours ago, and I haven't heard any chopping since. Maybe the headphones volume is a little high, though. :)

I prefer my man using appliances--dishwasher, vaccuum, iron, washing machine, etc.... He's a little scary w/the tools. Can anyone say accident prone? I do like a man in uniform though. Our UPS delivery guy at work has gray hair and great legs and I swoon over him.

I'm too late for this post. I just had to say that I will not stand for any squirrel bashing! I'm half squirrel and I take serious offense on behalf of my fellow squirrel community!

Signed,
