Discussion of Idol Tuesday

I liked the cousin guy who wore the baby blue ball cap and sang an awful rendition of "Amazing Grace," graciously accepted the judges' "no," and then played to the camera upon leaving the room by yelling at the judges.

Hilarious...but not as hilarious as the picture of Randy at right.

I also loved the cutie-pie girl who the judges turned down then brought back...she's by far the strongest female contender.

And I loved the last guy, who sang "Cupid."

But again...the show overall was pretty boring.

Randy, Randy, Randy--you have a long way to go on your Journey to being a fashion icon (ha! ha!)

I think that Amazing Grace guy's cousin actually thought he was yelling at the judges. That was a hoot.

I thought the girl they brought back had a nice voice, but the first song she sang did not show it off at all - awful choice, I thought. I have to agree with the judges on the distraction her expressions cause - hope she can tame those some. She was a beautiful girl too.

Man, did they spend enough time on Bailey Brown, the small-town fashionista blonde girl or what??? They did such a long package on her geez!! I thought she was adorable and is going to go pretty far. "Commercial with a capital C" (good one Simon ...not!)

Okay, so I heard on the radio this morning that both of the "good" ones, Ashlyn (2nd chance girl and Akron (cousin that could sing), have been disqualified b/c of legal troubles.

Ashlyn has a felony charg b/c she vandalized her boyfriend's car or something like that. And Akron had drug charges from sometime in the past (marijuana I think).

That sucks. The girl did her "criminal act" in the time since she made it through the audition shown last night...so, I can see her being kicked out. However, Akron supposedly told the producers about his past and was still let through. I don't know why he'd be dropped after the fact unless there is more to the story!

Bama with the dish!

Maybe that is why they had to switch the showing of TX and LA last week? To get clearance from the felons

At 2/07/2007 10:12:00 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yeah, I was wondering why they moved TX from last week too.

Wonder if the producers let Akron through anyway b/c they saw a good story there with him and his cousin. I don't know if the judges would've already known about his past or not. Sometimes I think they are pawns too.

But that girl...she just threw away her chances! She'll never get another chance on AI b/c they won't take any felons! Cah-razy!

Well, Chris Sligh is still my fave!!

P.S. I know where Shelley stands on stuff like this...but y'all know there is a spoiler list out there with the top 24 names, don't ya? I really wanna look!

Ok, so is there some unwritten law that good singers must have had a brush with the law? We all know about Taylor's indiscretion. And then Amos Lee guy (Thomas?), and now Ashlyn and Akron? I just don't like where this is going!

Didn't watch last night. Did I mention that I'm bored with it?

Oh, and I doubt the drug thing was MaryJo (ain't I kewl) as our saintly Taylor had that little blemish on his otherwise spotless record. (Although never convicted of that MISDEMEANOR, as the cop didn't show up to court so the charge was dropped.) If it was a felony conviction, it had to be for something harder than MJ. <----(again, kewl)

And, the "spoilers", like my proclivity to read the last page of a book first, I LOOKED!!! I KNOW WHO MADE IT!!!

Neener, Neener, Neener....

Guys, I will be out of pocket for the next 4-5 days at my best friend's wedding in God's country. When you speak of me, speak of me fondly.

Much love.

dd

Squee, do you think it might be connected to the fact that singers/artists sometimes have a more passionate, impulsive temperment? Plus many of these are so young (16-19 yrs old). Maybe it's just the odds when you have that many people. I don't know, but it does seem to be a common thread.

P.S. I couldn't help myself, I looked at the top 24 list. Truthfully, it doesn't tell you much, because it's hard to remember many of the contestants' names.

Didn't anyone find my "Journey" comment about Randy hi-larious? Come on dawgs, that's good humor. lol.

DD, I hope there won't be any blunts of MaryJane passed around at the wedding. **how's that for kewl*** (my daughters are cringing somewhere right at this moment).

Not much analysis required....

Musicians. do. drugs.

Go figure.

(And, don't gimme a big disertation about you're a musician and you DON'T do drugs...you KNOW what I mean.)

Well, Lee, the Journey fashion was better than the "Doobie" Brothers....get it? Doobie?

Randy looks like he might have done a "lid" or two in his day.

(God, I am old.)

Ummm...seems there might be more to the story we'll never know but I never said Akron had a felony charge.

I looked up the story so we would be clear.

The Story.

After all, I would hate to spread false and malicious rumors.

Let me try that again:

The Story.

DD...isn't that statement a TAD stereotypical?

Certainly you didn't mean to make such a crude generalization.

She didn't mean to do it - she was clearly on drugs when she did it.

Shrew, we know Pauler agrees with you.

This is kinda off topic, but what's up with Simon rubbing his man boobies last night? It kind of freaked me out. And please, someone tell that man to put on an oxford cloth button down or something other than those grey/black/charcoal dress t-shirts for a change.

At 2/07/2007 01:12:00 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Lee! I totally noticed Simon rubbing his man-boobs last night!! What a weirdo! (Ooh, baby. I love the way my man-boobs feel. Yeah, baby.)

DD- you should know better than to drop a "bomb" statement like that then say yer gonna be outta pocket for 4-5 days!! You just love stirring the pot, huh? ;) No pun intended, of course.

Lee...there was a movie called the MidWinter's Tale (released in the mid-90s) It is about a troup of ragtags trying to put on Hamlet over the Christmas season...One character said she could tell if the show was going to be good one or not by hers...

So I suspect, Simon was utilizing the same talent judging radar with his man boobies. Funny, with singers I usually judge by my ears. I guess that is why I am advertising and not the music biz.

At 2/07/2007 02:14:00 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Shrew- you may be onto something there!

At 2/07/2007 02:35:00 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

oooooo Gray stoped by......doesn't that mean we'll get six more weeks of winter or something...hmmm..

Lee--yes yes simon rubbing his man boobs does put a sick picture in your mind that even years of therapy won't recover...but besides that point the chick who they let back into the room was good and very pretty, buy does anyone else notice how Paula and Randy follow Simon's lead-I bet you all money if Simon didn't say anything that Paula and Randy wouldn't of done anything at all...just a thought.

At 2/07/2007 02:38:00 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

HC4S- You are correct my dear! I'm positive they changed their minds b/c of him. Although...they haven't ever said no to someone they previously said yes to b/c of Simon. So, I guess it depends on the situation.

Did Gray see his own shadow when he popped up over here?

At 2/07/2007 02:51:00 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I think Randy and Pauler were on the fence with Ashlyn (as was I), and when Simon said that he would have said yes, they hopped off the fence at that point.

Double to da D: I wasn't just talking about drug possession charges. According to Bama, Ashlyn had a vandalism charge, and I'm sure in the past there have been other contestants who have had assault and fraud charges. So don't be makining it all about the MJ, my friend!

Yeah Simon needs to stop with the man-boob fondling. It is distracting and a little bit disturbing. Maybe Simon needs some drugs to calm his obsessive self-touching. (Ok that sounded bad, but you all get what I mean. right?)

Uhh...what, Lee?

Bama, lee was referring to your groundhog reference. ;)

That was not Gray that posted, as he has a new policy, doncha know.

If it was him, however, he didn't mean it. He was clearly on drugs when he did it.

At 2/07/2007 03:38:00 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Bama, you know, the groundhog's name is Punxsutawney Phil. It was my lame attempt at Groundhog Day humor.

Squeeeeee, What's Gray's new policy? He doesn't post at the great Monkbot site anymore? Say it isn't so!

At 2/07/2007 03:40:00 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I get it now.

I believe that it was Uncle Monkbot commenting. It's his policy...I imagine he can violate it whenever he chooses.

At 2/07/2007 03:45:00 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Lee, I hear Gray has a new policy not to comment at other Taylor sites. I think it is a good one, as it stops any Gray-bashing episodes from escalating.

Double D, your best friend is getting married in Alaska?

Bailey Brown reminded me of Carmen Rasmusen from a previous season, also heavily favored by Simon. Carmen didn't have that great of a voice either, but she was young and blonde, too. Simon's contestant preferences are as predictable as his opinions.

The only one that they showcased last night that I liked was the last guy, "little Ruben". I hope he's on the spoiler list. (Even if I looked, it wouldn't help, since I can't remember his name)

It was a pretty boring show overall, but they got me with the hook for tonight's show... "The best of the best". So far no one's topped Chris Sligh for me.

Gray knows he's safe to comment here. Monkbots don't bash. They might tag cars with yellow bumper stickers if they take 2 spaces, but bashing... never.

C'mon....can we be real? If the stereotypical shoe fits...(not that there's anything wrong with that). What is the percentage of musicians that DON't "hit" a little? 1%?

Bama -- I was meaning that I thought he had to have a felony charge for AI to reject him as others have had misdemeanors (like pot possession) and been kept. Maybe it's 'cuz he pleaded guilty, when others *cough*one Gray haired dude*cough* were never convicted. But yeah, stir the pot, bong, whatever. Gotta have SOME fun.

Seriously, it makes me no nevah mind. I was really just havin' some fun around the whole cannabis thing.

Where is the irreverence of the Monkbot? Everybody is all rainbows, kittens and lollipops.

I. WANT. SNARK.

Oh, and Howdy, Gray...my drug of choice is legal (at least in Alabama).

BTW, love to all from God's country...that would be LA and not AK. Nice snark, though Bama.

Gon' to the Fais Do Do....Laissez le bon temps rouler....AAAAIIIIYYYYEEEE.
