Taking It to the Limit...Seasons Greetings from Mississippi

This little tinseled truck was in front of me in traffic Saturday, and I just had to grab a shot to share with my Monkbots.

I don't know what I loved more...the tinsel-lined ladder rack...the greenery and red bows hung between the hoses...the naked girl silhouettes with red bows at their waists and Santa hats on their heads... or the string of silver bells strung between the two air tank gauges, in front of the sign that reads "Nothing in this Truck Is Worth Dying 4."

Merry Christmas!

Just one more day until "Taylor Hicks" hits store shelves!

Wouldn't you love to meet the guy who decorated that truck ?(or maybe it was a gal, but I doubt it). It would fit right in here in good ol boy Indy!

This weekend I'm at my 2nd job, and I have a lot of down time. I didn't bring a book ,so I entertained myself by reading old posts/comments, etc.... I hate it that I missed out on some of these conversations. Let me just say that I can't believe no one mentioned when Timer (?sp) sang "hanker for a hunka, a slab or slice or chunka, hanker for a hunka cheese". That should have all made us lactose intolerant. My sister's name is Lori and I still call her Lolly at times and sing her the adverb song. Do you remember "My Hero Zero"? Love that one.

"The Hatred of Minutiae" was so spot on and it kind of creeped me out. I have known people like that. It's so weird when you can see someone's manipulative ability, but no one else can. Kudos to you Shelley for even attempting to spell minutiae.

I had a few self revelatory moments after reading your post at GC's in response to the SP comments in the NYT article. Loved what you said. I couldn't dwell too long for fear of my brain exploding. Had to go back to shallow thoughts to avoid gray matter messing up the keyboard.

Are any of you guys going to go to Taylor's concert in Birmingham? It's only an 8 hour drive for me , and I was considering it. Would love to meet up w/some of you. Do you even think we'll be able to get tickets on-line or will it sell out too quickly?

Sorry for the long post. I've been by myself all day, and I'm full of gab!!

I went to B'ham for AI concert...so I'm not sure.

I was hoping for a New Orleans show so that folks could connect there.

N.O. is about three hours from me...6 to 8 for folks in Texas...3 for DD...and NOLA, of course, is there.

Just seems like New Orleans date would really be a great time for Monkbots to try to unite.

Anyone else in that mindset?

What's up with all you southern gals? Sounds like I need to move south of the Mason-Dixon line. Oh well, my hubby will disown me if I drive 13 hrs to N.O.--not that that has stopped me in the past.

Speaking of my husband's tolerance--it's TRUE CONFESSIONS time. I actually have a Taylor Hicks pillowcase, and he lets me sleep in the same bed w/him and my pillowcase. Now that should add some levity for the day. (I truly hope the NYT lady doesn't get a hold of that info).

Shelley: I really needed the laugh I got from this post! I'd like to have a beer with that guy. You know he has a sense of humor. I'm not sure how much travelling I can do to see any shows after my summer tour. I'm still recovering and I have three trips planned in the next 3 months.

leejolem: A Taylor pillow case? Haaaahhhhaaaaaa! That's true love if you DH doesn't mind that.

I like that! A truck driver with a touch of inner Martha Stewart!

Of course I am on board with the NOLA date! I might not be living here still at that point, but would be here in a heartbeat to see Taylor. I really want to see him here - it is just .... better. (at least for me)

Oh, and GEAUX SAINTS!!

(Bama - hope you are not a Cowboys fan! We are whipping your butt right now!)

SAINTS RAWK BABY!!!!

NOLA, I'm in your city today (just for the day). New Orleans is BEAUTIFULLY decorated for Christmas. If you haven't visited lately, you should....like for some concert by some guy.

LURVE the truck pic. Brings to mind Alabama's state motto:

Thank God for Mississippi
