The Night Before the Twelfth

An Adaptation of "The Night Before Christmas"
By Quossum

'Twas the night 'fore the 12th and all through the blog
Posters were whispering, as if in a fog.

Tension was strong; expectations were high
For the long-awaited CD release was nigh.

The fans were nestled all snug in their thought
That Taylor would go gold with the CD they bought.

And I with “Soul Patrol” emblazoned 'cross my chest
For the Wal-Mart aisles has eschewed my rest.

As dry leaves before the wild hurricane fly,
So flew my thoughts to days long gone by:

To a little TV show that lately we knew,
Which had Taylor and Bucky and Elliot, too.

I remembered the songs—I knew them by rote:
The dancing and prancing and each little note.

As I watched the clock’s hands too slowly go 'round,
To WorkPlay my restless thoughts did bound:

Taylor’s eyes were alight with a mischievous gleam
When he entered with thunderous applause on the scene.

He played and he sang—he gave such a thrill,
That closing my eyes I remember it still.

The harp, the voice, the dancing—oh when—
Please, not too long 'til I see it again?

Then up from the music aisle arose such a clatter,
I knew that gray-haired dude was the matter—

Away to the boxes I flew in a flash,
Beating another ardent fan’s dash.

The fluorescent lights’ gleam on the CD’s cover
Matched the gleam in my eye as I tried to recover,

For what with a twinkling before me did appear
That hard plastic case with a visage so dear:

A cute little singer so lively and quick,
At last! At last! I held "Taylor Hicks"!

Making my purchase, I went to the car,
Hoping our boy would continue to go far.

I was heard to exclaim on that fine winter night:
“Congratulations, Taylor! This one’s outta sight!”

Quossum...beautifully done. Thank you for sharing your work.

Karin...welcome to Monkbot.

Q is definitely very talented and I'm so lucky she shared her fine work with us.

As for the picture...glad you liked it. I spent a good bit of time in Photoshop yesterday creating it out of two differnt pictures...I had to have something worthy of Quossum's awesome poem! :)

anyway...my google alerts must be busted...i never get alerts about monkbot

how do y'all have yours set up?

Shelley,

Mine is set up for anything that says Taylor Hicks ... that's it. I get everything Taylor ... am always thrilled to see you there! It's kinda like ... heyyyy that's "us"!!! Lol hope you don't mind!

Taylor just did a wonderful job on "The View". They were good to him, he was himself.. he performed "The Runaround" ... cannot just say he sang it... this gets better & better each time he does it. Amazon jumped after "the View"..

"And to think I sat there singing you a lovvvvvve song"..

Dance Taylor Dance!

Wooooooooooooooooooooooo

Thanks, Jax.

I have mine set to "Taylor Hicks" and, for whatever reason, I don't get alerts about monkbot (and I have the "comprehensive" setting marked).

anyway...can't wait to see a clip of taylor on the view at gray's later!

Q...your poem is perfect for today! :)

Q....what a fun way start to Taylor-Day eve!

Shelly..I must admit I didn't even catch the Taylor-Santa photochop. I am so embarassed. But you did a great job!

Whoo.....up 6 spots on Amazon and the View hasn't even reached the west coast yet!

Do you think WalMart would think I was crazy if I called them and recited Q's poem? I've already called them 2x to ask when the CD's will be physically put out on the shelves. The guy said "well, sometime during the midnight shift". I then asked for a specific time and I heard a huge sigh very similar to the "not Taylor Hicks again" sigh I hear from my co-workers and loved ones.

Taylor was great on The View! Talking about wanting to date more--puhleeezzzzzzzzzz. As if he has trouble finding a date.

San-Tay looks kind of Cary Grant-ish to me. I, like Sqeebee, didn't even notice it at 1st--very smooth Shelley.

Q- that was awesome. I can see me, years from now, curled up by the fire reading this version of our hallowed Christmas Eve story to my grand-dogs!!

Y'all, I am freaking out today b/c Prison Break is filming within feet of my building. I can see them from my office window! The only guy I've seen so far is: this guy. But I'm obsessed with seeing: this beautiful man. I really can't get any work done!

And...y'all should know that I keep binoculars on my desk b/c I have a great view...and sometimes I need to see what's goin on out there...So, I've been binocaling the PB set all day!

I'm so weird!

Bama....you have impeccable taste! Wentworth Miller is high on my list of famous hotties (along with some other guy). The two of them are in a dead heat for first and second place!

You are a lucky, lucky duck. Hope you catch a glimpse!

OMG. I will die if I see Wentypoopoohead! He just gives me chills!!

They film in Dallas full-time, he lives here, and there are WM sightings all over the place and I have yet to see him!! I'm not a very devoted fan, apparently!

Thanks for the kudos Squee! We both have great taste!

P.S. You need to quit working so hard - we miss you here in Monkbot world!

It should slow down over the next few days! I'll be back here buggin' all you guys and spoutin' my opinions in no time!

I hear I missed a lot of good stuff last week...Friday in particular. I'll have to go catch up on my reading!

I've missed y'all too!

QQQQQQQQQQQQ!!!!

Awesome prose, chica.

Shelley - FABULOUSO San-Tay (thanks Leejolem)

And Cary Grant.....mmmmmm.

I know, I know, but I am into older men. What can I say?

I'm sorry, someone brought up Cary Grant and all my comments flew out the window, haha. Philadelphia Story, anyone? I think I will be watching later...

Poem and Picture = perfection! I really like adaptations of "The Night Before Christmas" for some reason...I have a pretty funny one entitled "The Night Before Finals" which I feel like I'm living right now, haha. So my posts may keep at this slow pace for the next couple days as well...after that, it's on! ;)

Hey, guys! Thanks for the props, peeps!

As it turns out, I don't even have to go stalk Wal-Mart: I recieved the copy I ordered from Sony Music Store TODAY in the mail! You know, the outfit that offered a free poster when you ordered the CD.

The "poster" is nary as large as a piece of notebook paper; it's the album cover with "YOUR AMERICAN IDOL" printed at the top. Cute, but not the POSTER-sized poster I'd envisioned. Oh, well--gift horse and all.

CD now loaded onto mp3 player, so I will soon be vegging out in my rocking chair absorbing it. See y'all later!

Quite a talented bunch of people here. Singer, poet, rapper, stalker ;^D, and water drinker.

Bama, I've seen a picture of that fine ass dude with hair. I've only seen the PB ads. Am I the only one who wants to tickle his feet? I'm loopy.

Umm, never seen that guy with hair. Dang typos.

dd: Right on, that is exactly what I meant, tee hee.

Q: Enjoy the CD tonight! I figured that "poster" deal would just be a large-ish picture like that...I have one from Clay Walker's "Hypnotize the Moon" CD, lol.

Well, I was all excited to just get an e-mail from Amazon that my CD had finally shipped. BUT ... it said expected delivery date of Dec. 21!! What.the.Hell.

If my CD doesn't come in the mail tomorrow...from either Amazon or Wal-Mart...I'm downloading it from iTunes.

Grrrrrr....preordering is the devil.

I just checked my orders.

I didn't order from Amazon...I ordered from Sony through my mobile phone (did anyone else do that?)

Anyway...it has been shipped.

I also checked Wal-Mart...it, too, has been shipped and is supposed to be to me by Tuesday or "just after"...which, I guess, means Wednesday.

I hope it comes by Wednesday. I want to be able to write my review this coming weekend.

Mr Jax stopped at three Walmarts on his way home from work tonight to try & surprise me with Taylor's CD. Gotta love this man! No luck but he tried, bless his heart.
